An OCR and machine-learning system that converts incoming faxes into structured healthcare records.

Overview
Healthcare providers frequently still receive documents by fax. MEDOCR is a custom software system CODEWERX built to convert those incoming faxes into structured, usable digital records automatically.
The Challenge
Manually transcribing incoming faxed documents into a usable record format is slow, repetitive, and error-prone at any real volume. The software needed to reliably read varied fax document formats and turn them into structured data without a person re-typing every incoming page by hand.
The Solution
CODEWERX built MEDOCR as a document digitization pipeline combining OCR (optical character recognition) with machine learning to convert incoming faxes into structured digital records automatically, reducing manual data entry.
Key Work
Incoming faxed documents are processed through OCR to extract text content.
ML-assisted logic organizes extracted text into structured record fields.
Automates a workflow that would otherwise require manual transcription of every incoming document.
Current State
MEDOCR is built and functioning as a document-digitization pipeline for incoming faxed healthcare documents. This case study intentionally does not include accuracy percentages, processing volume, customer counts, healthcare partners, time-savings figures, revenue, or compliance/HIPAA claims — none of that is verified or approved for publication here. The existing marketing mockup image is used as-is; it does not depict any real patient data or actual documents.
